Description
Superconducting amplifier. Wiring for an amplifier based on titanium nitride and niobium titanium nitride superconducting materials. It was developed by researchers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), California, USA. This amplifier is intended for a wide range of research. It can be used to study stars, galaxies and black holes, and for quantum physics experiments. Superconductors are materials that allow an electric current to flow with zero resistance when lowered to certain temperatures. This amplifier can be used to boost microwave, radio and X-ray signals. Photographed in 2012.
